About Sting Tickets

Arguably one of the most iconic rock stars to ever exist, Gordon Matthew Sumner, known as Sting, brought the post punk, new wave wonder The Police to the forefront of mainstream music in the late 70s, 80's 90's. Born to a milkman and a hairdresser in Wallsend, England in 1951. When Gordon was young, he would follow his father on milk delivery routes playing an old Spanish guitar his uncle left behind. While attending high school, Gordon snuck into nightclubs to view live performances by big names like Cream and Jimi Hendrix. He would go on to earn a teaching degree from Northumbria University and teach middle school for two years before switching into full- time musician mode.

In 1977, Gordon, who adopted the nickname "Sting" after performing in a shirt that resembled a wasp, joined Stewart Copeland and Henry Padovani (who would be replaced by Andy Summers) to form The Police. The band would sign to A&M after Copeland's brother Miles heard a recording of "Roxanne" and immediately recommended them to the record company. Influenced by the rising punk trend of the late 70's and early 80's, The Police's song was initially punk, but soon changed to new wave, reggae influenced pop. Sting's solo career followed more orchestral trends and Back-to-Bass tour dates saw him returning to his native instrument. To date, The Police have released five chart-topping, multi-platinum albums, four of which have reached the number one spot on UK charts. They have won six Grammy awards ranging from Song of the Year to Best Rock Instrumental Performance.

Sting was also one of the figureheads in a movement to support Amnesty International in 1981. The Secret Policeman's Other Ball included Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Phil Collins, Bob Geldof and Midgre Ure. This would continue in his future efforts at charity work. Sting has been involved in numerous activism efforts over the years. Audiences flock to see him at shows to benefit Live Aid, The Human Rights Now! Tour, The Concert for Walden Woods and much more. Sting has rallied for and given financial support to Amnesty International, Free Tibet and many more. He also founded the Rainforest Foundation Fund in 1989.

Sting has released various solo studio albums, many of which have reached the top ten spot on US charts and received gold or platinum status. Year after year, fans continue to celebrate Sting due to the overwhelming popularity of chart-topping hits like "All This Time," "We'll Be Together," and "All For Love." Sting has won dozens of awards ranging from the Grammy for Best Rock Instrumental Performance to the Grammy for Best Rock Song.
