In August 2014, Maroon 5 released their fifth studio album, V, and the first under their new label, Interscope Records. The new Maroon 5 album saw the return of original band member and keyboardist, Jesse Carmichael. Maroon 5's V album debuted at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200, selling over 160,000 units in it's first week of release! !

The first single off the Maroon 5 V album, "Maps," peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. Maroon 5 next released "Animals," which peaked at No.2 and sold more than a million units in the United States alone. "Animals" reached the top-ten in ten countries, including 200,000 units sold in the UK. The third single, "Sugar" peaked at No. 3, giving Maroon 5 their 11th top-ten hit. The song reached the top-ten in 24 additional countries.
