About Lynyrd Skynyrd

On October 20, 1977, a plane crashed in McComb, Mississippi, taking with it some of Southern Rock's most acclaimed artists. Those people were songwriter Ronnie Van Zant, guitar player Steve Gaines, and back-up singer Cassie Gaines, members of monster band Lynyrd Skynyrd. Skynyrd were never the same again, and a generation of Southern Rock fans were plunged into a black despair, alarmed and heartbroke that their favorite rock band were no more. Lynyrd Skynyrd tickets were suddenly a thing of the past, and music was knocked into a lamenting stupor. But Lynyrd Skynyrd tickets never die, like the immortal band itself, and in 1987 Lynyrd Skynyrd reunited for a full-scale tour featuring the crash survivors (Artimus Pyle, Billy Powell, Gary Rossington, and Leon Wilkeson) plus ex-guitarist Ed King. The deceased Ronnie Van Zant's brother, Johnny Van Zant, became the chief songwriter and vocalist, and Skynyrd fans went crazy, trying to buy Lynryd Skynyrd tickets to see their survivor heroes.

In 2005, Lynyrd Skynyrd were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, where they took their place alongside acts as diverse as Led Zeppelin, The Police, and The Eagles. As the years have passed, Lynyrd Skynyrd have been lionized and worshipped by generations of Southern Rock disciples, and the familiar rebel flag has been seen everywhere, both north and south of the Mason-Dixon Line.

Skynyrd hit the road in 2011, co-headlining the Rebels & Bandoleros Tour with ZZ Top. This was a reunion for both bands who first joined together in 1974 on the Outlaw Tour. ZZ Top floored fans with live renditons of Free Bird, Sweet Home Alabama, That Smell and Simple Man as well as songs from their 2009 album God & Guns. With many of the members of the band from before the crash leaving or dying, this may be your last chance to see Lynard Skynard tour up close and personal before they hang up their guns so get your Lynryd Skynyrd tickets now at Ticket Liquidator!
